Life is a highway...

At the start of the month, I went up to Battle Creek on Friday night after my massage and dropping the boys off at Gas City.  We met at Stagecoach with D to grab some burgers and fries and a couple of beers.  It was a good time!  They have the best fries ever!  It is hard to stop eating them.  After we went back to the house and watched Yellow Beard which is fairly interesting movie. It puts the Monty Python cast with a bunch of Mel Brooks actors.
 

We went to bed pretty late, around 4am, so we got up even later on Saturday morning. It was noon before we were out of bed. I think that is the first time I've done that since college!

We had some coffee & conversation, trying to work on getting him integrated back into the house. so we checked out the pantry and tried to figure out what different things he needed to make it be more organized and get his food in there.   We brought a  few boxes of pantry items into the house and cooked some yummy breakfast - eggs & bacon my favorite! 

We made a stop at Menard's to look at shelving materials, rope lights and other improvements for the panty and then went to see Star Trek Into Darkness. I just really like the new series reboot, Chris Pine is so super cute but I really wish they would stop beating up his pretty face.  I just love how they have been true to a lot of the old set but it's been improved by today's technology that just wasn't there in the 60s.  I love seeing & hearing the references to the TV show and the original movies.  Very fun to look for and find!  However, I hope they come up with some of their own stories too & not just remake them to fit the new timeline.

After the movie we to BW3s to get wings and beer.  I think we found Gadget's match in hot sauce, I'm not sure he'll get the mango habeñero again but it was pretty tasty.  When we got home, I wanted to watch The Life of Brian but NetFlix did not have it for Instant Play.  So we got The Meaning of Life instead, but it is not really my favorite.  We both ended up falling asleep during it!  

Sunday we got up a bit early about 930 and have some coffee went to the Country Kitchen in Marshall to get some food.  We decided to get my brakes replaced (they've needed it for a LONG time)wo we went to the auto store to get some parts.  Ended up also changing the oil & putting on new wiper blades too.  I feel better knowing the car is more safe now.  There wasn't a millimeter left on those pads. 

I'm hoping to take care of it & keep it for a bit longer, now that I have it paid off I'd like to save some money toward buying the next one and not having a loan, or at least as big of one.  

Next weekend we are doing the fly-in clinic at Harold Cannon's hangar down in Owensboro, KY, I think that is going to be a ton of fun.  We'll fly down in the Cessna and then get to spend some time with the Hooligans.  I'm just so tickled that he asked me to go!  

When we get back, he's going to get to see S for her birthday, and then come down to take care of me after my surgery.  I can't believe he was willing to take a week off of work to do that for me.  We'll also do some work around the house, trying to make it more attractive to sell.  

He's got so much he wants to get down around his house, there is so much that I want to get down around mine.  Sometimes I just wonder if we are being silly by trying to maintain 2 places.  We each help the other.  I feel terrible when he's up there by himself trying to get so much done and I'm 130 miles away & can't help.  I know he feels the same way about me.

I just miss seeing him every day, kissing him, touching him, talking to him face to face.  I miss waking up next to him & falling asleep with him beside me.   I know there are plenty of other people in similar situations, and I don't mean to sound like a whiney baby, but it is how I feel.  I just wonder if it will always be this way or if there is ever any hope that it will change.  

Something that I really don't understand is how he can be so committed in that aspect (taking time off from work, helping with house, and I know his heart is committed too) but yet he can't quite get to where it is "official".  And I know it is not my struggle to understand, but that is just me.  I like understanding things.  

So i have been praying a lot for patience, peace and understanding.  I am really just trying to be supportive, and understanding, to not be in the way or demanding.  To just allow the whole thing to unfold the way he needs it to.  To put him first.

So I just stopped at Auburn to get gas & coffee.  I'm anxious to see the boys & I hope they've had a good weekend with their Dad.

We've just acquired a new company and I am on the integration team.  So I have to figure out how to integrate their services, tickets, clients, etc. into our system.  It has been stressful, but we've uncovered a lot of work & change that need to occur.  Hopefully it will be a good time to bring some of those about.  

I've been doing this management position unofficially for the past couple of years, it will be interesting to see how the "official" announcement goes and what changes that brings.  I will have to be working out of the Warsaw office indefinitely now.  To start, it will be 2 days a week.  Not sure if or when that will ever change.  So that is another 120 miles every week I will be driving.

Well, this has been very long, but it did feel good to get it out.  Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Planet 51 Review

We saw the preview for this movie when we went to see Where the Wild Things Are and both boys (& me) thought it looked funny.  When it came here to the cornfields we decided to go see it. For some reason (tired maybe) 006 freaked out!  Didn't want to go, it wasn't at the Eagles and he did not want to go to Huntington.  We missed the showing.  Luckily Marion had another one & we did make that one.  And of course he loved it.  Won't admit to it, but he did.  There were a couple scenes as a parent that mildly disturbed me, but overall, it was a wonderful movie, and a really cool re-do on the classic alien invasion theme.  The names are also clever, the only one I can remember right now is Lem (Lunar Escape Module) but there were others that were of a similar nature.  Computer animation just continues to improve beyond my wildest imaginations.  I remember when Toy Story first came out (the first one, like a million years ago) and I remember even then how incredible it was.  They just continue to push the edge of the envelope and continue to deliver spot on.

Indie Movie - Good Dick

OK, I'm not always a big fan of indies, but I took a chance on this one and am totally glad I did, perhaps it will turn me around yet.  You can find the movie here at Netflix, Good Dick .  It is about a young woman who is "addicted" to erotica/soft porn and on the surface, that might turn you off.  But, like an onion, if you peel the layers back, you discover that she is actually a young woman who struggles with social interaction and it leads you to wonder why.  As the movie progresses, the layers get peeled back and the root is revealed.  I don't want to mention more than that, as I don't want to ruin it for you.  There is also a second story arc which is her meeting this young guy and how he falls in love with her and has to learn to be patient for her to catch up.  And how their relationship is really warped & twisted because of her past.  At times, the dialog is lacking, and the story slows down, but overall, I think it is a very good story, realistically portrayed and well worth the watch.  Just as you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, don't judge a movie by it's title (I'm so guilty of that, sometimes it's the only determining factor for me. Bad me!).

Harry Potter & TCoS Part II

OK, so we watched the Netflix version the other night, worked great!  Then the next night we watched angels in the endzone from family video and it worked fine too.  But I have to admit, their track record just isn’t all that good, so for the money, I’ll probably be staying with Netflix.

And I must say, it was like watching a completely different movie, we had missed so much!  Really like it, good adaptation on the book.  We are now about 1/3 way through book 3, so it will be a while.

harry potter chamber of secrets round two

Oh Netflix and your beautiful red envelope, you send me dvd’s from my wishlist  so very faithfully. I can see this might be the start of a beautiful relationship…..  it came today, we are watching it as soon as pokey 006 can get his shower taken (the cattle prodding started 30 minutes ago….) I’ll let you know how the movie turns out… well, not the ending, but if it works…. Off to make poppycorn!

miscellaneous

isn't that the category it seems like so many things fall into?  we don't like things not being categorized, so we come up with a category to catch all that stuff that doesn't fall into any others.  we are such little squirrels sometimes storing up our nuts for winter!

first thing, please say a prayer for all the troops who were deployed yesterday.  a friend of mine's hubby left for iraq yesterday.  they have 2 little girls. also pray for the families who stay here and take care of business every day so that they can go off and do their jobs. and especially, thanks Eric and Shannon for what you do every day, with love and grace.  you both are amazing.

second thing, i think the bubonic plague has officially left my little household.  006 went back to school today.  he still coughs quite a bit going in and out so i hope he will do ok once he gets in and settles down.  since we are having a torrential downpour i don't have to worry about him going out over recess.  just hope he remembers to give the teacher his note so he can take his medicine.  he can remember to make his bed without being told, but getting notes to the teacher is another thing.  my pastor said she used to have the same trouble when she was a kid and her mom would pin them to her coat.  not a bad idea...

had coffee with mark at modoc's always so much fun.  get to catch up, have a good cup of coffee (and it was free cause i had a full punch card!) and just watch the scenery.  and by scenery i mean the guys working on the charley creek inn across the street.  hummmm.....

anyway, if you are in wabash, stop by modoc's.  one of the best coffee shops ever.  hands down.  better than starbucks.  trust me, i love starbucks, but modocs is even better... prices are better, coffee is better, and the service is well, just down-home!  and you can follow them on facebook if you'd like, just search for modoc's market.

i see the eagle's theatre has astro boy playing.  think we'll go tomorrow or sunday to see it.  they have a weekend matinee at 2pm.  i like the eagles for several reasons.  first of all, it's an old vaudeville theatre.  my dad used to go to it growing up, it was a movie theatre then too.  second, they still have the old bulb marquee out front. totally retro. third, they have a balcony. fourth, main floor is $4, balcony is $5, it's cheap.  it's local, totally love that.  i like supporting local businesses.  ok, i know i have a pix somewhere, but can't find it.  probably on my external at home.  if i find it, i'll post it.

well, i think that is it.  going to FISH again to pack.  we did 14 families last week.  the rain always seems to make less, we'll see about today.  then it is off to kroger, and then home to work on class kits before the boys get home. tonight is pizza and movie night.  we tried to watch chamber of secrets last night, but neither my dvd player or my laptop would read the disk very well.  we missed A LOT of chapters.  we were so mad.  i got them from our local video store.  but i signed up for netflix.  this breaks my heart (see my comment about supporting local stuff) but this is not the first movie, in fact almost all the movies we've gotten there skip horribly.  i know it is not my drives because my discs work fine.

been blue today.  all day.  most days. went to see where the wild things are.  just so identified with carol's pain. maybe i'll elaborate later....gonna go watch some tv, then go to bed.  need to be at church a bit early in the am to test the presentation.
