September 2008 Flickr Upload

Well, I’m fastly approaching what I have proofed … I just finished up February 2009 this week. Maybe that is a good thing, as it will be smaller chucks done at a time now.  I think I only spend 30 minutes or so doing all of this each day I do it, but it’s probably closer to 1 hour or more.

006 is doing VERY well after his tonsillectomy, I have just been amazed at how much more quickly he has recovered compared to when 009 had it done at 4.  Thanks for all the thoughts & prayers.  We went down Thursday night & I stayed at a hotel.  Which didn’t have wi-fi…weird, I know.  So I proofed photos instead.  Probably a much more productive use of my time than facebook anyway…. ;)

Here’s the stream  http://www.flickr.com/photos/81154606@N00/

Here are my faves from the upoad….

Harvest time on the way to work.  Loved the sunlight, loved the colors.  It was such a cool, crisp day…

After we took out the solar unit, we put in a garden for my mom.  They had this pond form for 11 years upstairs in the house.  Wow, it’s nice to get it in the groud.

Cooling off after working all day… nice!

Such incredible posture.  Wow!

Hiding under the pews at the juggling show.  Don’t know why I like it other than it is soo #005.

Awesome juggler who took stories from the Bible & set it to his juggling.  Way cool.

Me & my buddy Todd.  He used to take classes from me a million years ago. Now, he’s a million times smarter than me.

Ben & Colby on a field trip.  I was so happy I got to chaperone.

Love the eyes….

They had to pick a friend and then pick characteristics based on the letters of their name.  Love the yappy, that could be self-descriptive there…

Busses through a fence.  Not sure why I like the fence in front, but I do….

August 2008 Flickr Upload Part Deux

With the boys being gone for spring break (I got them the first ½, bob the second) I’ve been busy working on getting some pictures proofed (Jan 2009 done!) and getting some stuff uploaded to Flickr.  Really hoping to get some layouts pushed up as well.  I’ve had a couple get accepted last week to be in a Memory Maker’s book, but still waiting on the final details of that, but I’m totally excited about it!! I’ve been published on a website before, but this will be the first print publishing.

Have several projects ramped up for the weekend here around the homestead and with it being spring, we have our seeds planted for our veggie garden, just need to get it tilled.  Lots of weeds, sticks & stones in the flowerbeds, so I’m thinking of getting my little girlfriend and her friends over to help.  Maybe if I promise we’ll make something afterwards, she’d agree.  Maybe I could even get them to help over at my mom & dads!  We do need to schedule another work day over there soon, before my bro gets too busy & the weather gets too hot.

So here’s what’s on my list….

  1. Finish caulking the back door
  2. Finish caulking the mudroom windows
  3. Post some exciting stuff on my blog, catch up with where I am (mostly done!)
  4. Work on/finish my book for my trip to Germany back in ‘84
  5. Upload pictures to Flickr (done!)
  6. Proof some photos (done!)
  7. Get caught up on my email (done!)
  8. Upload some photos for submission to shutterstock
  9. Upload some LOs to my blog + websites
  10. Download some new music
  11. Work on some new product
  12. Burn 2008 pix to DVD

Might be a bit ambitious….

Here are today’s faves…..

My Great-Great Uncle Lennie.  He taught me how to play dominoes, rummy, canasta and so much just about life.  He was a stubborn old bird & I loved him.  He was the caretaker of this cemetary until my dad took it over when we were kids.  Every Saturday we’d load the lawnmowers up in the old green truck dad had, drive over there, spend the day mowing & then go home.  We sometimes got to ride in the bed of the truck.  And we survived.  He’s buried in that cemetary now.  I always thought as a kid it was creepy that he had his headstone already.  He’s buried next to his sister, he never married.

How can you not love that sweet face?

Um, yea, that’s a huge bruise on his chin.  Fell down the first week of school.  It was awful.  Looked horrible forever.  Hurt bad.  So typical 004.

Chalk drawings on mom & dad’s back porch.  Totally cool & fun.  Good way to start the day, seeing that on the way to work.

More of the bruise. Such a cutie, in for big trouble as he gets older.

During Children’s church we planted mums around the church.  I forgot to bring hand trowels so we used big serving spoons.  Still the bruise.  One of the ladies does a lot of gardening work there.  I’d really like to find a way to get the kids more involved.  Good for them, and I think she’d like the help.

That’s my little girlfriend helping 007.

This one was long, thanks for looking & reading….

Big Rocks

I promised my therapist I would bring my life inventory tomorrow.  Of course, I've had all week, and of course with it being holy week, the loss of a dear friend, and singing today, oh, the b-day thing, well....i came up with a lot of excuses why I didn't get it done.  And now it's late, and I want to row & go to bed, but I'm going to do this because it is important.  So here it goes... this is a list of what is important to me, where my priorities, energies & focus need to be.

1. God - making sure I live each day showing his love & grace; doing his work here. Being present & where he wants me to be.

2. Self - that I take good care of myself.  Eat well, sleep enough, row (I love it, it is good all-over exercise), scrap enough, play enough, nurture & care for myself.  There is only 1 of me & a lot of people depend on me.  I can't do my job if I'm not "right".  Sketch, create, journal, capture.

3. 009 & 006 - making sure I do right by them, setting a good example of how we treat others, ourselves, our planet.  Showing them how much they mean to me.  Teaching them how to be responsible, contributing members of society.  How to love God.

4. Parents/family - making sure I love & honor them.

5. Friends - spending time with them & valuing them in my life.

6. Job - gotta have it.  'nuff said

As you can see, I'm relationship oriented.  I'm sure you also notice there is a lot that I do that is not on this list.  There are some medium rocks that maybe I'll list next time.  But these are the big ones.  If these aren't firmly planted, then nothing else I do will be either.  Just like the house that is built on the sand instead of the rock.  No thank you, ma'am.

Good night,
elle

Total Blast from the Past

Ah, the early days of internet security… and my former life as a tech editor….  Is this what TV actors feel like when their shows go to syndication?

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future...

OK, not the Seal remake but the Steve Miller original....Been waiting for the right moment, but there never is, and if there is one thing time knows how to do, it is to go from 1 minute, day, week, month to the next.  Never to be had again.  Never to be stopped.

I found out the wrestler got back with his girlfriend. He didn't tell me.  Why, I don't know.  I should ask.  Then, he broke up again & said he totally can't do it anymore.  Won't do it anymore.  So we decide to be friends again.  He can't be friends when he's with her.  Don't ask, long story, but one I am so, so, so used to.  So I say sure, let's just hang out.  See where things go.  That was mid-February.  It got PG-13 a bit.  Maybe more.  Now he says he needs to step back, figure out his life a bit, ask some tough questions.  Uh-oh.  This sounds familiar.  But, we are still talking.  And he still lets me know when he's not going to be at church.  Why?  It is very odd.  He says he doesn't want me to wonder.  But do we really have that kind of relationship?  If he really doesn't feel for me (which he has said) then why would he care?  He says he doesn't like drawing lines.  Is that drawing lines?  It makes it very confusing for the person who's on the other side of the "not line".

I've been very honest with him this time.  I'm not the fill-in.  I'm not somebody to just get you by.  You hurt me last time, I'm scared now.  Scared that we'll get going with something & then you'll just disappear again.  Without even having the decency to tell me.  If you're my friend & care about my feelings, then you need to be honest with me.

But why does he keep coming back to me?  Is it because he knows it's a safe, sure thing?  Is there more there that he doesn't want to own up to? I don't know.  I'm trying really hard to just take things one day at a time.  I'm trying really hard not to push.  It's not going to be one of those "oh, I have to contact you first because if I don't then I won't hear from you ever again" kind of things, because in that case, there was nothing there at all anyway.

I've been avoiding & putting this off.  Oh, I've got too many other things to do, nobody really cares, etc.  But I need to, because it is my catharsis, a way to help me gather my thoughts and maybe heal.

Since I've last written, I also joined Bob at 006's sleep study while 008 stayed with Bob's girlfriend.  That was hard to watch as they drove away.   And yes, Bob did some of his stupid, typical stuff that night at the clinic.  He gets so defensive & territorial & takes every comment so personally.  No wonder 008 can be the same way.

My job keeps me busy.  We are working on finding the right schedule.  My dad picks them up at school on Mondays so they can make it to practice. Tuesday we drop Pioneer clubs because there just is not enough time to get them fed, homeworked & out the door.  Wednesday we are still in Kokomo & Dad picks them up on Thursdays so I can still do choir.  I've also been driving them to school, most days it helps me to get there on time.

It is a good job & I'm grateful for it.  It has been nice having some money to pay off the bills & get the savings account back up.  I can honestly say 6 months of unemployment is hard.  I don't know people do it for longer & it's no wonder they lose cars & houses.  I am starting to understand more about the technology we use & how it works for our customers.  As well as just learning our customer environments.

Last Friday I was back in Indy for the boys pulmonologist appointment and Bob & I went together.  Weird, but OK.  It was nice to meet their new doctor.  Then we rode the glass elevator (it is at Riley) because that has become a tradition since 008 first started going when he was 003.

Then we went to Circle Center Mall, ate an Auntie Anne's pretzels in the Art's Garden ( I SO LOVE THOSE THINGS!) and played a bit in the arcade.  Then it was time to head home.

Singing We are the Body went phenomenal.  I was sad when it was over, it was so much fun to do & practice on.  I think we are doing another one this month but without the wrestler.  I think Pastor's husband Jim is going to do it.  I think we are doing From the East to the West, also by Casting Crowns.  We need to get going on it!

I've also been busy trying to get memorabilia put into my LOM binders. And just make some stuff.  I drew a sketch for the church bulletin board last month & that was totally cool.  Doing more of that lately.  Next weekend my little girlfriend is having her birthday party here with a bunch of girls & we're going to do altered clipboards & composition pads.  Tons of fun & I can't wait!  She's turning 13.  What a great, awkward age!

I think that's it for now.  Thanks for listening & I'll try to not wait so long next time.
